An exceptional Art Deco standing chandelier combining sculpture and light.

The figure is hand-carved from wood and finished in original hand painted details and gilt, with a rich red draped fabric spiralling upward to support the chandelier. She stands balanced on a gilt orb, mounted to a shaped and painted wooden plinth.

The chandelier above is a modern wrought iron light with faceted tear drop crystals. The quality of carving and paintwork suggests Continental origin — likely French or Italian, circa 1930s.

A rare and dramatic Art Deco statement — beautifully made and full of presence.
