A Secchi disc is a tool used to measure water clarity, specifically water transparency, by determining how deep you can see the disc in the water. To use it, you slowly lower the disc into the water until it disappears, then raise it until it reappears, and average the two depths. This average depth is the Secchi depth, which indicates the water’s turbidity.
