For measuring non-magnetic coatings (paints, plastics, chrome, copper, zinc etc.) on magnetic substrates and for measuring non-conductive coatings (paints, plastics etc.) on non-metallic substrates (copper, aluminium, zinc, bronze, brass, etc.)
